Beth passed away peacefully at home amongst her family after losing her courageous battle with cancer. Predeceased by her youngest son, Keith Young in 2001. She leaves to mourn her sons: Tim (Irene) Young of Sooke and Hugh (Margo) Young of Courtenay; her sister Amy Farewell of Winnipeg; her brothers: Jim and Fred (Kay) Chidlow of Victoria. Leaving also many grandchildren (biological and adopted) as well as nieces and nephews, as Beth was the youngest of ten children. She was “Mom” or “Nana Beth” to more than just her biological family. Many others will also miss her, including her neighbours who will remember her cheery “Hi neighbour” and her wonderful breads and delicious flaky crusted pies.
A Memorial Service with Rev. Peter Thomsen officiating, will be held on Saturday, October 16th, 2004 at 1:00 PM in Cumberland at the United Church located at 1st Street and Penrith, with refreshments there to follow for all that wish. In lieu of flowers, which are gratefully declined, a donation can be made in Beth’s name to the Canadian Diabetes Association or any charity of one’s choice.
