CARTER, Elvin Courtney Sr.


Born on January 14th, 1912 in Jamaica, passed away peacefully in St. Joseph’s Hospital, Comox, BC on Friday the 16th of September 2005. He was a member of the Britannia Legion, the Monarch Lions, Comox Valley, and a past secretary of the Oak Bay Lions. Elvin was blessed with a large family; an extended family and many many good friends. He was predeceased by wife Sylvia (nee Wiles) and son Courtney; son-in-law Vito and special partner Eleanor Millar and her son Bob Millar. He is lovingly survived by his children - Milton (Emily), Fay (Ed), Elvin (Carol), Allan (Sherry), Marcia, Edna (Ron) and daughter-in-law Judy; grand children - Tracy (Ira), Robin (Jim), Carmen (Ed) and Andrea; great grand children Aiden, Isaac, Taija, Mateo and Jacob. He is also lovingly survived by Tom (Tiny), Noreen (Pim) and Don; plus grand children Ben, Sonia, and Willie. Survived also by lasting friend Elze Cotton and her children Marilyn and David. Elvin loved family, friends, good cars, good Cricket, his Bible and his beer - Pops will be sadly missed by all. Funeral services will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion, Britannia Branch #7, 780 Summit, Victoria, BC, on Saturday, October 1st at 11:00am. Donations may be made to the above named Legion in lieu of flowers.

A local memorial service will be held Friday 7 October 2005 at 2:00pm in the Chapel at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Comox, BC. Tea will be served after the service. Flowers appreciated.
