MUNROE Eric

Eric passed away peacefully at St. Joseph’s Hospital on August 16th, 2007 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was blessed to have his wife and children by his side. He is predeceased by his parents John and Mary, his brothers Elmer, Archie, Jackie and Ted. Eric is survived by his wife Georgie, his children Francis (Cheryl), Yolande (Steve), Michael (Brenda), Juanita (Steve) and Craig (Lori). His grandchildren Alisha, Brandon, Savannah, Chelsea, Dana, Jesse, Jeremy and Claire.

Born October 8th, 1937 in Philips Harbour, Nova Scotia, Eric was raised by Mr. and Mrs. George until the age of 17. Eric then joined the RCAF and served from 1954 - 1981. Following his retirement he worked at various jobs in the Comox Valley, including Canada Post and the Comox Free Press. He travelled extensively to Nova Scotia to visit family and friends. He was an active member of the Courtenay Legion Branch 17 and 888 (Komox) RCAF Wing. Eric enjoyed camping (at any time of the year), golfing, travelling and fishing still trying to catch “the big one!”

Thank you to Dr. Naaykens, Dr. Beristain, Dr. Fehlau, Joanne and Barb in PAR, and the team on second floor. A special thank you to the nursing team on 3rd floor Nadine, Lindsey, Heather, Kathy, Lori, Vern, and Joanne for their tender care and support. Moira, thank you for your warm and comforting words and endless hugs. All friends for the frequent visits at home and in the hospital. Thank you to all the staff at St. Joseph’s who were involved in his care, Home Care nursing, Home Support, Marg and Bev for their healing touch and May Beth from Hospice. The family requests that in lieu of flowers to please make donations to the Canadian Cancer Society. A Funeral Mass will take place on Friday, August 24, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at Christ the King Catholic Church, 1599 Tunner Drive, Courtenay.
