ERIC ARTHUR WILTON

July 10, 1930 – February 19, 2009

Passed away at the Royal Jubilee Hospital in Victoria, British Columbia. He was predeceased by his wife Jeanne Christiana Wilton and brother Lewis Wilton. Eric is survived and will be greatly missed by his sons; Paul (Mary) Wilton of Comox, B.C., John (Gale) Wilton of North Vancouver, B.C., Denis Wilton of Penticton, B.C. and Rick (Sandie) Wilton of Nanaimo, B.C., his grandchildren; Jason, Christopher, Danny, Kyle, Gregory, Peter, Raina, Shara, Kayla, Lexi and Nikki Wilton as well as his sister Elizabeth Roberts of Florida, U.S.A. Eric served in the Air Force for 25 years as a photographer. Eric was an accomplished artist who painted many beautiful watercolour nature scenes which he shared with his family and also enjoyed food and cooking - creating new recipes. He was an avid hunter of wild game in years gone by. Eric enjoyed gardening as well, he loved flowers of all varieties but especially orchids and he used his greenhouse to grow tomatoes and herbs etc. He loved the Comox Valley and was very knowledgeable about the area as he had lived here since his retirement and also during some of his years in the Air Force. Eric loved cats and had a cat named “Tiger” who had been his dedicated companion for the last 8 years and who Eric was very attached to. He was a very personable man who loved talking and sharing information about a wide variety of topics. He was knowledgeable about many things – he loved talking about painting, nature, wildlife and especially cooking. He often made large recipes, even though he lived alone, and enjoyed sharing them with others. He was very dedicated to his 4 sons and spoke proudly of them to anyone who would care to listen. Eric also had a strong faith and prayed daily for all of his family and friends. Flowers gratefully accepted as Eric loved orchids after spending time in Hawaii in the 70’s with the Air Force. Donations in Eric’s memory made to the S.P.C.A., Box 1284, Comox, B.C. V9M 7Z8 would be appreciated. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Monday, March 2nd, 2009 at 1:00P.M. from Christ the King Roman Catholic Church with Father Paul Murphy celebrant.
