Ernie died “convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate me from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus my Lord” (Rom. 8:38-39)

He is survived by his wife Sylvia, son Charlie (Judi) Zerkee, daughter Annabelle Turek, grandchildren Ben (Jacqueline) Zerkee, Darcy Zerkee, Heather (Geoff) Miedema and five great-granddaughters. Also survived by Sylvia’s family; daughter Jean Murray and son Ed (Brenda) Zerkee; grandchildren Leah (Jay) Murray, Gina Murray, Melissa Nygren, Meesha Zerkee and 2 great-grandsons.

Ernie will be remembered as a man of integrity, gentleness, kindness and definitely a man of patience. He was always a good neighbour wherever he lived and always picked the “best” tomato to place in their hand. The coffee pot was always on mid-morning and mid-afternoon for his neighbours to drop in to enjoy while solving the worlds problems. He will also be remembered by many nephews and nieces as the favourite uncle.

Funeral service will be at Faith Lutheran Church, 17th & McPhee, Saturday, July 15th at 2:00 pm. An ice cream and carrot cake social (Ernie’s favourites) will follow the service.
