Annie is survived by daughter
Ruth Cassie (Mike) of Toronto,
Ontario. She had no other living relatives.
Annie was born in Oxford, England where she was raised until she immigrated to Canada in 1946. She was one of 14 children & at the tender age of 17, her mother died leaving her to help raise her brothers & sisters. The war brought her one piece of good fortune as she met and later married a handsome Canadian soldier, Adam Cassie in 1944. Together, along with daughter Ruth (Cassie), they made a life in various farming communities in southern Ontario. Upon retirement in 1975 they moved to B.C. where Annie spent the happiest days of her life.
Her strong will and her no nonsense approach served her well as she worked side by side with Adam. Whether working with the cattle or later as a property manager, she still made time to look after the house and teach Ruth the ropes. Knitting and teaching her birds to talk were 2 of her favorite pastimes.
Annie’s family (Ruth and Mike) would like to thank the staff at Glacier View Lodge for their fabulous care and to the many Home Support home caregivers for years of service to Annie when she was still living at home. We also wish to thank Jo-Anne & Al Pelletier for their love and friendship of Annie who had no living relatives in Western Canada. Annie often commented to her daughter, Ruth, and to her friends, on how lucky she was to have them looking out for her well-being and taking her in as if their own mother. Jo-Anne and Al always referred to Annie as their adopted “Grandma” and for nearly 20 years Annie attended all family functions, birthdays and holidays with the Pelletier family.
May Annie rest in peace for eternal happiness.
She will always be in our hearts and thoughts.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Piercy’s-Mt. Washington Funeral Home and Crematorium.
