Cousins (nee: Stewart) Evelyn ‘Grace’
1921 - 2006
Passed away peacefully at Langley Care Gardens on Wednesday, June 28th, 2006 at the age of 84 with family by her side. Predeceased by husband Mel in 2002 and sisters Irene, Dorothy and brother Stan. She will be lovingly remembered by her sons: Ron and Bruce of Surrey, daughter Donna deJong (Peter) of Comox, grandson Michael and sister Rita Loverock, North Vancouver, as well as many dear friends from the Valley.
Grace was born and raised in Victoria, middle child in a navy family. She joined the WRENS when the war broke out and was posted to Cornwallis, Nova Scotia. She finished her service at Royal Roads, Victoria, and after the war, married and began a family in Victoria. The family moved in 1951 to the Comox Valley and in 1964 to the Englewood Logging Division. Retirement brought them home to the Valley in 1980 and Grace became actively involved in many community activities especially Florence Chapter #53 of the Eastern Star where she was proud to become Worthy Matron in 1993. She cherished her family and always kept their home ready for a visit from ‘the kids’. She was an avid reader, ‘armchair explorer’ and lover of all things associated with the sea.
As her health failed she moved to the mainland to be closer to family and has resided at Langley Care Gardens since 2002. She continued to wear her gracious warm smile for all the new faces she met and she treasured each visit with family and friends.
Special thanks to the caring staff at Langley Care Gardens and to her trusted family nurse, Rebecca, who kept her impeccably attired, informed, amused and loved.

Funeral Service to be held at Comox United Church, 250 Beach Drive, Comox, BC on Friday, July 7, 2006 at 11:00 am, with reception to follow. Piercy's - Mt. Washington Funeral Home in care of arrangements.
