Evelyn Maria
Evelyn Maria Lewis passed away on May 31, 2007 at the age of 96 in St. Joseph’s Hospital, Comox. She is lovingly remembered by her nephew Paul and his wife Evelyn of Newport Beach, CA, her sister-in-law Gladys King of Vancouver, a grand-nephew Paul G. King and his family in Stockton, CA, and her grand-niece Laura E. King of Huntsville, AL.
Born in Magnettewan, Ontario on March 19, 1911 she spent her early years in North Bay and Kirkland Lake. After her marriage to Leonard E. Lewis, they lived in Toronto, St. Thomas and Woodstock before moving to Burnaby, BC in 1975. After her husband’s death, she joined her sister Lilian Lefcoe in Comox in 1993.
Evelyn will always be remembered as a kind and giving person who thrived on her social interactions with her many friends. her life was a continuing adventure in which she nurtured her family and performed the roles of wife, mother, sister and daughter with great love and compassion. She loved to travel and treated every day as a gift to be enjoyed to the utmost.
A Memorial Service will be held at Stevenson Hall in Comox at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 5, 2007. In lieu of flowers it was Evelyn’s wish that a donation be made to each person’s favourite charity. Arrangements have been entrusted to Piercy’s ~ Mt. Washington Funeral Home.
