With his daughter and son by his side Gary passed away peacefully at St. Joseph's Hospital.
He is survived by his daughter Sheila; son David (Elysia); grandchildren Cole and Caitlin; brothers Melvin (Faye), Mark (Donna), Michael, Jamie; sisters Margaret (Alex), Shirley (Mayo), Barb (Ken), Gloria (Louis); and many nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his parents William and Leona Thompson, brother Bill (Marie) and sadly one month prior his sister June.
The family would like to thank Dr. Joan Scruton and the nursing staff on third floor. You are wonderful people and took such good care of my father. You all made him laugh and that made his heart feel good. The same goes out to all the Home Support Workers who helped dad at home and made it possible for us to have that special time with him. You allowed him to keep his pride and dignity right till the end. Thank you. . . . .
A Celebration of his life will be held at 1060 - 21st Street, Courtenay on July 5th starting at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers please donate to a charity of your choice.
