Gene Alexandra Johnson
July 21, 1923 to August 3, 2002
Suddenly at St. Joseph’s Hospital on Saturday, August 3, 2002, at the age of 79 years. Loving and devoted mother of Eugene and his wife Margaret of Haines Junction, Yukon; and Tricia and her husband Michel of Ottawa, ON. Gene is survived by her sisters: Robena Sands of Winnipeg, MB; Margaret Denson of Victoria, BC and Sheila Carlson of Winnipeg, MB. She is predeceased by her husband of 54 years, Gordon; her son Ian; and infant daughter Erayne. She will be sadly missed by her grandchildren Patrick (Lorraine), Candice, Amanda, Stephanie, Kelly and Emilie. Gene had two great granddaughters. Gene was born and raised in Brandon, MB where she met and married Gordon. She also spent 20 years in the Yukon where she and Gordon raised a young family, and a further 10 years in Terrace, BC. Gene and Gordon retired and moved to Courtenay in 1976. A Memorial Service was held at Comox Valley Presbyterian Church on Wednesday, August 7th, 2002 with Reverend D’Arcy Lade officiating. The family asks that those who would like to remember Gene with a donation in her name, to consider the Heart and Stroke Foundation of BC and Yukon, Box 1225, Comox, BC V9N 7Z8.
