George Colwell passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, March 4th at the age of 90. George was predeceased by his daughter Joyce, wife Rose, grandson Ricky, son Robert and long time partner Francis Knapton. He is survived by sons: Larry (Terry), Brian (Shirley); daughters: Joan Jamieson, Dianne (Bob) Turnbull, Janet (Lloyd) Whelan, June (Darrell) Kolodziejak; fourteen grandchildren; three grandsons reside in the Comox Valley: Bobby Turnbull, Lonny (Sonja) Turnbull, and Carey (Jasmine) Turnbull, and fourteen great grandchildren (five in the Comox Valley): McKenzie, Tylar, Reese, Shelby, and Walker Turnbull.
George was born in Fraserton, Alberta and his family moved to the Comox Valley in 1929. George married his wife Rose (Terris) in 1937. They resided in Royston until 1957, when they moved to Sidney, B.C. George will be sadly missed by his family and friends. No service by request. A private family service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Cancer Society.
