George aged 71, of Courtenay, passed away on Sunday, November 30th, 2003 at Royal Jubilee Hospital, Victoria. George is survived by his loving family, Loretta, his wife of 48 years; sons Patrick Edens and grandchildren Patrick Robert and Erin of Halifax and Bryant “Bobby” (Beth) Edens, and granddaughter Debralynn of Red Deer; daughters Mary Jean (Gary) Sooley; and grandchildren Jennifer and Magdalyn of Cold Lake, Jennifer Edens (Dwayne Capstick) and grandson Nicholas of Petawawa, Loretta Mae (Bradley) Struke and grandchildren Sondra, Julia and William of Prince George, and Suzanne Edens and grandchildren, twins Stephanie and Jessica of Montreal; his sister Barbara Kerr of Belleville, Ontario, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. George spent 35 years in the Air Force, serving mostly on radar sites, particularly enjoying Holberg, B.C., where he stayed for 9 years. He was 4th Degree Knights of Columbus and in his leisure, loved fishing, hunting, and visiting with his children and grandchildren. George was a dearly loved husband, father and grandfather; a much adored, “Pappa”. Special thanks to the 4th Floor Medical Staff at Royal Jubilee Hospital, especially to Dr. Weir and the staff at St. Joseph’s Hospital for their excellent care. Prayers were offered from Our Lady of The Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, CFB Comox, on Thursday, December 4th, where Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday, December 5th at 2:00 pm with Father Joe Killoran, celebrant.
