Gerald (Barry) Godfrey

It is with great sadness that the family of Barry Godfrey announce his passing on August 16, 2007 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Comox.
Barry is survived by his wife of 45 years Gail, sons Troy (Sheryl), Ken (Laurie), daughter Christine (Glen), grandchildren: Brad, Chris, Sabrina, Aaron, Jairus, Jessica, Grace, Tyler, Kelsi, sisters: Olie (Phil) of Vancouver, Pat of White Rock, brother-in-law Ric (Sandi) of Los Angeles, mother-in-law Muriel Holup and many nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by his parents Ernest and Nellie Godfrey, brother Herbie Head, sisters Marge Godfrey and Judy Godfrey.
Barry was born in Vancouver, BC, he and his family moved to the Comox Valley in 1973. Barry worked as an automotive mechanic until his retirement. Barry had a soft spot for animals especially his late dog “Beakers” whom, along with his late family members were there to greet Barry in heaven.
The family would like to extend our sincere thanks to Dr. Anderson, Dr. Neufeld, Dr. Lundie and staff at St. Joseph’s Hospital. Special thank you to the wonderful nurses that provided wonderful palliative care for Barry and kept him comfortable during his last days.
A Celebration of Barry’s life will be held at the Filberg Centre, Evergreen Lounge, 411 Anderton Ave., Courtenay on Thursday, August 23 at 5 p.m. Everyone welcome.
