Gloria Delores Frederick


Gloria was born on a farm near Wroxton, SK on March 30, 1941.

After a brief battle with cancer, Gloria passed away on June 19, 2017 at 1:55 p.m.

Prior to retirement, she worked at CFB Comox as the Base Commander’s secretary. Gloria was married to an airman and has seen most of Canada. She spent 4 years in Germany and traveling to many countries in Europe. Gloria was a curler, 5 pin bowler and Comox Legion Branch 160 member where she played darts, crib and help run the bingo night. She loved her gardening, camping, fishing and sitting around the camp fire with a cool one! Gloria was predeceased by her parents, Steve and Olive Derbowka and brother, Ed. Gloria leave to mourn her husband of 57 years, Donald; sons Kenneth and Derrick; grandchildren Danika, Alexis and Vaughn; sisters Irene Schoyen and Valerie Black.

A sincere thank you to Dr. Burgess, the nurses at St. Joseph’s Hospital, hospice and the palliative care workers. Memorial donations in Gloria’s name may be made to the BC Cancer Agency (c/o BC Cancer Foundation 150-686 W. Broadway Vancouver, BC V5Z 1G1).

A Celebration of Gloria’s Life will be held on Monday, July 3, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at Piercy’s-Mt. Washington Funeral Home (440 England Ave. Courtenay, BC). Following the service, an interment of cremated will be take place at the Courtenay Civic Cemetery.
