of Courtenay, passed away at St. Joseph’s Hospital on
Thursday, March 9, 2017, aged 96. He is survived and will
be dearly missed by his loving family; wife of 72 years, Dory;
son Robert; grandsons; Robert, Sean and Michael; great
granddaughter Kailey; sister Marie Mayne as well as his
nieces and nephews.
Harold served as a Navy Commando during World War II.
Following his discharge, he formed a construction business
in Ontario with his family. In 1956, he and Dory moved to
Phoenix where they spent a number of enjoyable years before
settling in the Comox Valley in 1979. In his leisure, Harold
was an avid golfer, hunter and fisherman and was a member
of the Courtenay Fish and Game Club as well as Branch 17,
Royal Canadian Legion, Courtenay.
Prayers will be offered at Comox Valley Funeral Home,
Cremation and Reception Centre, 1101 Ryan Road on
Wednesday, March 15th at 7:00 pm, followed by Mass of
Christian Burial at Christ the King Roman Catholic Church
on Thursday, March 16th at 11:00 am. Should friends wish,
donations in Harold’s memory to the Canadian Cancer
Society, 102 – 1509 Cliffe Ave., Courtenay, BC V9N 2K6
