WHITTAKER, Harry Woodward

January 29, 1930 - September 10, 2017

At the age of 87, Harry’s tired heart has stilled.

He spent his early life in Burnaby and on the Sunshine Coast, where he met his wife of 63 years, Rosemarie. After 3 years in the Air Force, stationed in Ontario, Harry and Rosemarie returned to BC where Harry began a 30 year career as a radio technician with Northwest Tel (which later became BC Tel.) They lived in a number of places up and down the coast before settling on Quadra Island where Harry spent his spare time exploring the bays and inlets of the coast in his sailboat with his family and boating friends. Thirty enjoyable years of retirement came next, living on Cortes and Vancouver Islands, pursuing his passion for steam trains, sailing, and continued exploration of his beloved coast and the rest of BC.

He passed away peacefully in St Joseph’s Hospital in Comox, BC. He is survived by his loving wife, Rosemarie; his daughters Linda (Leigh), Noreen, and Teresa (Mike); his grandsons Dylan, Matthew, Morgan and Brook; and his great granddaughter Rielle.
