HELEN ANGELINE WONG

June 28, 1935 – April 22, 2007

Helen was predeceased by her husband Melvin Wong, her parents Rade and Evica Zaklan, her sister Laurie Zaklan and her brother Steve Zaklan. She is survived and will be sadly missed by her daughter Danielle Lambrecht of Comox, her grandchildren Loni and Jerrica Lambrecht both of Comox, her brother Mike (Ruby) Zaklan of Chilliwack, her sister Bess Thompson of Langley and her nieces and nephews; Rick Zaklan, Leslie and Richard Thompson, Dina, Kristy and Andrew Round and many more.

Helen volunteered for eight years for Senior Peer Counselling and enjoyed her time with her clients and fellow peer counsellors. Helen also volunteered as the group co-ordinator for the Caregivers support group for several years and took pleasure in supporting and listening to other caregivers. The family wishes to thank Dr. Millar and Dr. Fehlau for your strength and advocacy for Helen to remain at home with her family, the Home Care nurses and home support people who helped take care of Helen and find time to support her family too, the Hospice volunteers and counsellors that also gave Helen and her family support and “healings” and her friends who provided “special acts of kindness” that brightened her days at home. It took a community of support to follow her wish to be home until her end and her wish was met. Helen’s journey will be complete as she arrives home to be with her husband on May 3rd, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. in Hawaii.
