Then she moved to Kelowna and on to Vancouver where she married Fred Barrass, then moved to Powell River where her 3 children were born. With mother and brothers in Courtenay, a move to the Island was inevitable and had, at the time of her death, lived here in Courtenay for about 58 years. Always an active member of the community along with her husband Fred she worked in several shops such as, The Fifth Avenue Style Shop, Lads and Lassies and Totem Stationary. She will be missed, an inspiration to all. Many appreciative thanks to doctors and nurses for their tender, compassionate care while in the hospital, and to Dr. Reggler and Dr. Blacklock for their continuing care. Many at the Cumberland Day Program, wonderful home care girls, Carol – her special friend and hairdresser, neighbors Dave and Helena McArthur – always caring and dear friends for many years, and many more are remembered.
