Cornelius, Hugh George
January 18, 1939 - September 17, 2009
Hugh passed away after a brief battle of cancer. Hugh was cared for by his companion Barb Willis until he died peacefully in his sleep on September 17, 2009.
He was predeceased by his parents Freda and Trevor Cornelius, and widowed by Denise Cornelius.
He is survived by Trina (Mike) Gaudreau of Boise Idaho, Robin (Richard) Rainaldi of Black Creek, Trevor Cornelius of Parksville, and the following Grandchildren: Kyle, Tony, Robin Jr, Nicholas, Joseph, Jacob & Rhyss. He has many stepchildren, step grandchildren and step great grandchildren.
Hugh retired from Timberwest in 2004, where he worked as a faller and onsite security for Camp 8. He worked for Cominco and Hooker Chemicals as a Class 4 Steam Engineer. In his early years he was with the military as a mechanic for 5 years.
Hugh was an avid hunter and fisherman, and enjoyed spending time with his friends on the golf course at Sunnydale and in the southern States. He will be sadly missed by not only family but by all his friends in Canada, USA, New Zealand and the UK.
Celebration of Life was held on Sunday, September 20th, 2009 at Sunnydale Golf Course Clubhouse at 3pm. In lieu of flowers please make a donation in Hugh Cornelius’s name to the Comox Valley Hospice Society or Canadian Red Cross.
