Ina Davies

Davies, Ina

(1927 ~ 2005)

Ina died early Friday evening, January 14, 2005. Beloved wife for over 55 years, she is survived by loving husband Ron, son Shane, daughter Lindy (Lorne), grandson Tysen, brother John, many caring nieces, nephews, in-laws, friends and neighbours. Ina was predeceased by son Bob (1975) and daughter Becky (2004).

Her parents emigrated from Wales in the early 1900’s to Winnipeg, where they met and married. She was very proud of her Welsh heritage and regretted never learning the language. In her youth she was a budding pianist but gave it up when she left school at an early age to work at Canada Packers. She moved to Vancouver in 1947 where she fell in love with a dashing young war veteran. Their secret marriage was discovered by her nosy younger brother who found the wedding certificate. They had delayed the announcement while Ron looked for work and a home on Vancouver Island.

Ron and Ina rented in Royston while they built their home on Royston Road. There they raised their four children. She lived through deaths, illnesses and misfortunes uncommonly numerous and still always had a smile and a welcoming home for everyone. Ina was known for her dangly earrings and four inch spike heels. She always enjoyed having a good laugh over a few draft with family and friends. For a city girl she was a good sport about all the fishing, hunting and camping trips. The last big one, a canoe trip down the Nisutlin River in Yukon. Her and Ron, the moose and the bugs.

She will leave an empty spot in our lives. Ina’s cremated remains will be mingled with Becky’s in the Spring at a special family location.

The family wish to thank all the staff at Glacier View Lodge for the kindness in your care and attention. She really enjoyed and appreciated you all.
