LOGAN, Irene Grace (nee Knight) RN

Irene passed away peacefully at Kelowna General Hospital on June 21, 2010. She was predeceased by her parents, Lewis and Gertrude Knight, and her loving husband of 42 years, Jerry Logan. She is survived by her son David (Gerri) Logan; daughter Kathy (Rick) Shave; grandchildren Erin (Chris) Chapman and Jessica (Kevin) Craig, Jordan, Jamieson (Tanya) and Colby Logan and great-grandchildren Nate Logan, Claire Chapman and Adelaide Craig.

Irene was born October 16, 1919 in Comox, BC. She attended nursing school at the Royal Jubilee Hospital in Victoria and shortly after graduating as an RN she enlisted in the Canadian army and served during World War II as a nursing sister in the field hospital operating rooms just outside of London, England.

After the war, Irene returned to BC and continued her nursing career. While working in Vancouver, she met Jerry Logan, the son of a pioneer Vancouver family. They married in 1948 and settled on the family farm until 1956, during which time their two children, Kathy and David were born. In 1956 they moved to a ranch in Princeton, BC, where they lived happily for 30 years. Jerry and Irene left Princeton to retire on Vancouver Island in 1986. After Jerry’s death in 1990, Irene continued to live in Royston until 1999, when she moved to Kelowna to be closer to her family.

The family would like to express their thanks to Dr. Warrender and Guisachan Family Medicine, to the residents and staff of Missionwood Retirement Resort, to Loretta and everyone at Advocare, and to the staff at Sutherland Hills Rest Home for their care and kindness.
