HOLST - Jacob
January 1, 1917 - November 17, 2008
Born on the family homestead in Saskatchewan, the eldest son in a family of twelve children, died very peacefully at his home in Tsawwassen, B.C. after many years of challenging health problems. Survived by his loving wife, Mildred, his daughters and stepdaughter, two sisters and one brother and large extended family.
He made a remarkable contribution to the forest industry, retiring as Executive Vice President of Canfor. He served on many international, national and provincial boards connected to the forest industry, industrial relations and community affairs.
The medical care and support received from Dr. Rex Long, Dr. Sharon Salloum, Dr. Sylvia Henderson and the Home Support Services were most appreciated by Jake and the family and were invaluable.
He will be laid to rest in Courtenay, B.C. where he brought his family in 1934 from troubling times in Saskatchewan. Graveside Service to take place at a later date.
