Born July 24, 1924 in Larry's River, NS; passed away peacefully at St. Joseph's Hospital, Comox, B.C. on September 29, 2008.
James was predeceased by his wife Mary Katherine and brother Anselm. James is survived and will be lovingly missed by his wife Josefina; sons: Calvin (Colleen) of Lower Sackville, NS and Kenneth (Erlinda) of Comox, BC; grandchildren: Tristan and Gabrielle; brothers: Bill (Mary) of Naughton, ON, Tony of Guysborough, NS, Wallace of Pomquet, NS and Edmund (Maureen) of Trenton, ON; sisters: Eleanor of Truro, NS, Mary Jane of Truro, NS and Barbara (Dennis) of New Minas, NS, and many nieces, nephews and friends.
James was a WWII veteran. He spent his leisure time hunting, fishing, listening to Cape Breton music, playing darts and woodworking.
The family would like to thank the staff at St. Joseph's Hospital for their compassionate care. Thank you to hospital chaplain Brian Ducedre, Father Paul Murphy and Father Scott Whittemore.
Prayers and viewing will be held at Comox Valley Funeral Home, 1101 Ryan Road, on Friday, October 3, 2008 at 7:00 pm and Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday, October 4, at Christ The King Catholic Church at 10:00 am. Donations in memory of James to a charity of choice would be appreciated.
