James Thomas Mayoh

February 2, 1952 – July 6, 2017

Jim (Jimmy) of Westock, Alberta departed this earth from Courtenay, BC and is predeceased by his mother Kathleen, Aunt Margie, and his Uncles Jim, Donald, Russell, Tom, and his estranged father David.

He will be deeply missed by his wife Mary, their children Kirsten & Evan, his sister Terry and her children Heather & Rachel, his brother Randy, and nephew David. Numerous other family and friends also grieve Jim’s passing. A number of family, friends, and pets were able to be present at the hospice where Jim spent his last days—this was a gift for him that words would fail to appreciate. We are grateful for the care of all the healthcare givers who kindly supported Jim, especially in the last few months. Mary and family are blessed to have felt the embrace of goodness received from the wonderful staff in all areas of St. Joseph’s General Hospital.

In his youth Jim was a Queen’s Scout with a brilliant mind and explored interests in sciences and technology; he dreamt of becoming an astronaut. He began his IT career as an electronic technician and at retirement as a network administrator at the 19 Wing Comox Department of National Defence. Jim’s coworkers were special to him, with a salute to Rob, one great fishing buddy.

Jim chose to forgo a formal service, he will be remembered by a gathering of family and friends on our beautiful waters at a later date.

Jim we imagine you are set free, and as a space sailor you live on.
