Jean Marie Lineger, 70, passed away peacefully at home in Comox, British Columbia on Wednesday,December 16, 2009 from Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (unknown cause/no cure).
She is predeceased by her parents, William and Catherine Kiely of Nova Scotia. Jean was born in Antigonish, Nova Scotia and attended St. Francis Xavier University (Secretarial Class of ’58). She later completed her Bachelor of Arts degree and obtained her X ring from St. F.X in 1980.
Jean and her husband, Pete, lived over 30 years in Ottawa, Ontario, where they raised their family. Jean was a Human Resources Officer in the Federal Public Service while Pete was a High School Principal with the Carleton Catholic School Board. They spent many summers at their cottage in Arisaig, Nova Scotia. Jean and Pete moved to Comox, B.C. five years ago from Ottawa to be closer to their children and grandchildren.
Jean is survived by her husband, Pete Lineger, son, Peter Lineger Jr. (Alison Nicholas), grandchildren Joseph, Lauren, Meghan and Nicholas; daughter, Maria Lineger Flores (Leo Flores), grandchildren Caleb and Kaia; two sisters, Margaret Murrin (Edward Murrin), nieces and nephews Anne-Marie, Marguerite, Maura Lee, Marty, Jeannie and Sheila; Francis Schmidt (Helmut Schmidt), nieces Karina and Sandra; and brother, William Kiely (Bernice Kiely), nieces Clare and Susan.
Jean was a devoted, sweet and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. From coast to coast, her home was always open to everyone and was filled with warm hugs, great conversation and lots of comfort food. We will miss her kind and gentle nature and way of making us all feel special. We know her light will continue to shine in our lives.

Funeral service will be at Christ the King Catholic Church in Courtenay on Tuesday, December 22nd, 2009 at 11 a.m..
Instead of flowers donations to the Canadian Lung Association would be appreciated.
