BLANTON, Jeanne Dixon

Of Portland, Oregon, U.S.A. died in July 2010 from pneumonia following a stroke in January. Born on October 22, 1918 in Portland, Oregon; Jeanne was preceeded in death by her parents, Dick and Leah Bartlett, in 1979; her first husband, Danny Darmody, in 1979; her second husband, Dick Dixon, in 1992 and her third husband, George Blanton, in 2005. She is survived by first cousins Phyllis (Chuck) Bentley of Beaverton, Oregon and Ruth (Vern) Helton of Redding, California; second cousins Phyllis Rutledge of Merville and Bob Bentley of Aloha, Oregon; third cousins Pamela (Ryan) Powell of Worcester, England and Sam Rutledge of Courtenay; and future fourth cousin "Baby Powell" (due to be born in October). She is also survived by numerous other cousins, friends and step children.

Jeanne was a life-time resident of Oregon and taught Primary students in Elementary Schools in the Parkrose district in East Portland for forty five years.

Jeanne loved gardening, playing the organ and going for daily walks (rain or shine!), but mostly she loved her family and friends plus the hundreds of young children whom she had taught. Jeanne had a loving personality, and in her retirement years she took an active role in her community by generously donating her time to her Church, plus numerous volunteer jobs, and also preparing full-course homemade meals for her family and friends.

She will be greatly missed and will always be in our hearts.
