Koch, Jerry

1943 - 2005

It is with great dignity that Jerry left us after a courageous battle with brain cancer. He passed away peacefully at home at the age of 62, with his family by his side. Jerry was born in Wilkie, Saskatchewan on May 29th, 1943.

He was predeceased by his parents Jerome and Katherine Koch, and father-in-law Wilfred Joyal. He is survived by his loving wife Donnie of 44 years; his sons: Greg (Brenda) of Abbotsford, B.C., Mark (Pat) of Comox; and grandchildren: Allan and Dawn; sister Madeline (John); brothers: Florian (Gissell) and family, George (Velma) and family, Tony (Mary) and family, Dennis (Margaret) and family, Raymond (Carolyn; Shana (Carey), Mark), Ron (Judy) and family; father Mike; mother-in-law Amy; brother-in-law Kirk (Chris; Brad (Candice), Jim (Megan), Sean (Kendra) and baby Emalee (his special little healer); sister-in-law Geraldine (Fred; Sheila (Grant), Tracey (Woody), Brent (Daphne) and families); together with numerous special friends, neighbours and his Tayco family.

Jerry was a kind and generous man and was always willing to lend a hand. He loved his home, his garden, and liked to go fishing and hunting with his family. He will be sadly missed and forever remembered by all.

A Memorial Mass was held at Christ the King Catholic Church on Monday, October 17th, 2005. A special thanks to Dr. Jason Wale and the healthcare workers who provided such special care and support for Jerry and Donnie during this difficult time. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jerry’s memory can be made to Senior’s Home and Community Services (directed to Palliative Care), 941-A England Ave., Courtenay, BC V9N 2N7.
