January 21, 2005

Adey, Joan Louise Anne

Passed away peacefully at home after a brave and lengthy battle with cancer on Friday, January 21, 2005, in the loving arms of her family. Louise was born April 9, 1951 in Powell River, B.C. She was predeceased by her father Speed Moretto. Louise is survived by her loving husband Brian and devoted son Michael; her mother Julie Moretto; her brother Chris Moretto both of Powell River, B.C.; her sisters Susan Moretto of Nanaimo, B.C., Loretta (Harry) of Taos, New Mexico and sister-in-law and brother-in-law Joan and Gerry Browne of Richmond, B.C. Louise was well-known to the business community as an owner of retail stores in Powell River and Courtenay. After leaving the retail sector her love for figure skating took her judging all over Vancouver Island. She devoted many hours to volunteering and working for the Boys and Girls Club of the Comox Valley. She loved to cheer for Michael and his teammates on and could be found at all the ballparks and arenas on the island. Her favorite pastime was camping at Kitty Coleman with family and friends.

The family would like to thank Dr. Janet Green who was there for Louise day and night and also Dr. Tien, Dr. Engman, and Dr. Olovoto, the Chemo nurses, Home Support staff and a Hospice worker. We could never have completed this journey without the tireless support from our family and friends, especially Marilyn Fulton, Leslie King, Melanie Rockwell, Krista Ward and Susan Ware.

A Memorial Service and Celebration of Louise’s Life will be held on Saturday, January 29, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. at the COMOX VALLEY FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORIUM, 1101 RYAN ROAD, COURTENAY, B.C.
