Joan Roberta Wood

It is with deep sadness that we announce that our mother, Joan passed away suddenly at her home in Courtenay, BC at the age of 80 years on December 10, 2009.

Born in Wigton, Great Britain, she left her home in Blackpool to immigrate with her family to Fort William, Ontario in 1947 and then moved to Vancouver Island, BC in 1979.

She is survived by her daughter, Patricia of Comox, BC; sons: Bill (Helena) of Burlington, Ontario and Angus (Cathy) of Courtenay, BC; grandchildren: Kevin, Heather, Kenny, Becky, Clayton and Natasha and great-grandchildren: Taylor, Hunter and Alexander; brothers: George and Robin (Rose) Thompson; sisters: Mary Southon and Frances Stirrett of Thunder Bay, Ontario and Lillian (Graham) Bannatyne of Winnipeg, Manitoba.

Joan was a mother, a sister, a grandmother and an animal lover.

Her parents, daughter, Margaret and son, Kenny have been waiting for her.

She cross stitches, paints, gardens and listens to her birds.

She will be missed so much, for which there are no words.

A lover of fairies and of Penny and Alfie, her cherished dogs.

She is now amongst family and friends, up above, with God.

She is surrounded by love, light and laughter.

We love you so much Joan…Forever After.
