OLIVER - John Alfred
July 1, 1925 - February 8, 2009
With heavy hearts we announce the passing of our Husband, Father, Grandpa and Best Friend. John, born in Nelson, BC, left us on February 8, 2009 to "Dance with the Angels" after a brief but courageous battle with cancer. His loving wife Sheila, daughters Lee and Shannon, stepchildren Carmen and Nick, grandsons Joseph, Sammy and Aidan and last but not least his four legged baby "Kiddy", survive him. John served in the 2nd WW as a gunner and from there worked a variety of jobs throughout BC, eventually retiring from Canada Post in 1986. He had been very active in the community with groups such as Rotary, Victims Assistance, BC Winter Games, C.V. Youth Music & Therapeutic Riding. He was instrumental in spearheading the building of the Rotary Bowl and bring the RCMP Musical Ride to town for the first time. For the past 20 years John was a volunteer with the RCMP raising money for different charities. He was loved and will be sorely missed by his family and the many friends he had here in the Valley. There will be no service by his request. In lieu of flowers, donations to the C.V. Therapeutic Riding would be appreciated.
