January 24, 1922 – November 18, 2008


John Friesen passed away peacefully with his loving wife at his side at Glacier View Lodge in Courtenay, B.C. after a lengthy illness. He was predeceased by his parents, a brother and a sister. John is survived and will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 65 years, Alice, his sons John Murray (Maryjane) and Robin (Colette) both of Ottawa, his grandchildren; Alice (Ken) McGaw, Catherine (Frank) and Katie (Derek) Strenzke, his great grandchildren Evelyn and Sophie, his sister Anne (Jim) Caldwell of Cumberland, his brother Abe (Elfrieda) of Edmonton, his sister Mary Borne of Smithers, B.C. and his brother Glenn (Barbara) of Amarillo, Texas, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. John served his country as a pilot during WWII and was a pharmacist in the Canadian Army, retiring as a Lt. Colonel. He was a wonderful husband, loving father and was well liked by all who met him. A Funeral Service will be held at Comox Valley Funeral Home, Cremation and Reception Centre, 1101 Ryan Road, Courtenay on Monday, November 24, 2008 with Pastor Ronald Sedo officiating.
