Albert died of a heart attack in White Rock on Nov 27, 2006. Born in Vancouver May 21, 1922 to Fedele and Lena Laviolette of Echo Bay, Guilford Island. Albert was educated in Lumby and at Vancouver College. Albert enlisted in the RCAF in Sept 1942. After flight training in Alberta, Al was stationed in England where he served as a Flt. Lt. /Bomber Pilot and made 32 Ops over Germany as a Lancaster Pilot. He was awarded the DFC. Albert married Colleen Levesque upon his return in 1945, and went into partnership logging with Levesque and McIntyre Logging. Albert and his first wife had seven children together. He was involved in many aspects of the logging industry and for a time in the 1970’s Al worked on Vancouver’s North Shore, balloon logging, he was an expert machine operator. Albert was also a flight instructor in the Comox Valley where his first family was raised. His “Cumberland Nickname” was “Pea Soup”. When Albert remarried to Peggy Trupp, they moved back to Guilford Island where his parents had settled. Albert was very musical and had a beautiful singing voice. He also had a keen sense of humour. He was interested in film at an early age and later enjoyed the new technology of video. Albert was predeceased by his sister Lorraine, his eldest daughter Adele Marie and his second wife Peggy. Albert will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his children: Paul, Michelle, Philip, Rene, Yvonne, Marcel and their spouses and 48 grand and great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind his stepchildren: Gerry, Rita, Willie and Fred, and many step-grandchildren who knew him fondly as “Albie”.
