Kathleen (Kae) Witzel

Kae died peacefully at Comox Valley Seniors Village. She is predeceased by her first husband, William (Bill) Quinn, her second husband, McKenzie (Mac) Witzel and siblings Bill, James (Curly), Frank, Barbara Ann and Johnny.  She is survived by her children, Chrystal (Bill), Susan (Greg) and children Jill and Joanne, Catherine (Jon) and Lesley (Murray) and children Hilary and Meredith. Kae was also blessed with three great-grandchildren she loved very much, Anthony, Lily and Indra. Kae married Mac in 1987 and her life was further enriched by his children Frances, Heather, Rose, Fred, David, Alan and Bruce. Kae left behind her very dear friend Ernie Maksymetz, her ‘sweetheart’.

Kae was an active member of the Comox Valley community. She worked side by side with her husband Bill at his business, Courtenay Upholstery, while they raised their four daughters. Kae was involved in many community organizations including, Soroptomists, Kinettes and the Sunnydale Golf Club of which she was a long time member and past president. Kae had many interests. She enjoyed bridge, golf, painting, sewing, fishing, and cooking (she loved to entertain). While married to Mac she discovered a love for travel and they had many adventures together. Kae was a member of the Christ the King Church in Courtenay, B.C.

Kae will be sorely missed by all who knew her. She was an incredible woman who approached life with a wonderful sense of humour and a keen wit. She had a very loving spirit. She was always there for her friends and family with helpful advice and a willing ear. She lived life to the fullest.

In lieu of flowers, donations would be gratefully accepted by the CNIB.

Kae’s Celebration of Life will be held at D’Esterre House in Comox (1801 Beaufort Avenue) at 2 p.m. on July 29th.
