MACKENZIE, Kathleen (Kaye) (nee Murray)

November 29, 1920 – March 8, 2010

It is with love and great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Mother and best friend. Always remembered and forever adored by her children, Marguerite (Craig), Stuart (Heather), her grandkids, Chris (Kim) and Scott, dear sister, Peggy (Guiler) and caring aunt to Susan (Bryan), Murray (Heather) and Dianne (Peter), also survived by Murdo. She was a “Special” mom to Carol and others who shared her adventures, character and sense of humour.

She pursued her love of family, friends and creative arts with a talented passion becoming an inspirational mother and accomplished fashion designer, painter and potter. A compassionate, dynamic, creative woman whose encouragement, artistic skill and generous spirit touched many people’s lives and hearts along her journey creating special lifelong friendships.

Born in Calgary and raised in Vancouver, attended King Edward High School, she then headed to Design College in Los Angeles where she graduated and returned to Vancouver with an entrepreneurial vision which she pursued. With her athletic ability and enthusiasm many wonderful years were spent enjoying skiing on Grouse Mountain, playing tennis and swimming. Her life included being an incredible friend and mother to her children and their families, a woman with a vision “before her time” she was instrumental in the design and construction of the MacKenzie home in Capilano Highlands, “Sister” in Beta Sigma Phi, a highly respected teacher at Sheridan College (Fashion Design) in Oakville, eventually becoming an independent ‘ladies fashion’ designer. Upon returning to Vancouver, she pursued her love of arts, friends and family spending many years travelling, adventuring and living her life.

The family wishes special and heartfelt thanks for the compassion, caring and respect given by Dr. J. Reggler and all the 3rd floor staff at St. Joseph’s General Hospital, Comox and special ladies, Barb and Mary.

Family and friends are invited to leave a personal message or memory at the online memorial register at www.dignitymemorial.com. As per her wishes, no funeral service was held. A Celebration of Life will be held in North Vancouver on May 8th, 2010.

Expressions of sympathy, if desired, would be appreciated to St. Joseph’s General Hospital, Comox, or http://www.kidsportcanada.ca www.kidsportcanada.ca.

Love you Mom.
