June 10, 2005

Harvey, Kenneth David

Died peacefully at Victoria General Hospital with his loving daughter by his side on June 10, 2005 at the age of 58. Born June 29, 1946 to the late James and Elsie Harvey of Vancouver, B.C. Beloved father to Nicola (Jeremy) King and grandfather to Lauren, father of Michael Harvey and little brother of Valerie (Larry) Reilly and uncle to their boy’s, Dan and David. Will be missed by his most faithful companion, his dog Tina.

He was a seaman in the Merchant Marine in his early 20’s and traveled to Japan, the Philippines and Australia. He always longed to travel to the Orkney Islands of Scotland and see the birthplace of his father and grandfather.

Retired from Safeway (bakery) after 29 years service. Many will remember him as the “Cookie Man”. In his retirement his greatest pleasure was socializing around town and chatting with merchants and the locals. His greatest pride was found in his children and granddaughter. He fulfilled his lifelong dream to travel to Scotland in June of this year. Returning home to die content in knowing he had fulfilled his dream and was loved by his children and family.

Anyone who will miss seeing his familiar face around town is invited to join his family and friends at a Memorial Celebration on June 25th, 2005 at the Elks Hall, 231-6th Street, Courtenay from 1pm — 3pm.

The family would appreciate donations in lieu of flowers to the Canadian Cancer Society.
