 It is with great sorrow that we tell you of the loss of our Lorene, wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She is survived by her husband and soulmate of 45 years, George, her beloved daughter Debbie and cherished grandchildren Jeff, Michelle and Jena. George and Lorene’s son Jeff died tragically at the age of 16. She is predeceased by her parents Lara and Gestur and her brother Derek. Lorene is also survived by her sister Trina and husband Gordon, nephews Brian and Trent, many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews that will dearly miss her. Lorene leaves a legacy of friends and friendships. They welcomed friends warmly into their homes from Prince Rupert to Fanny Bay.


Lorene loved gardening, traveling, quilting, shopping and bridge. She had a wonderful sense of humor. Lorene was diagnosed with cancer in May 2005 and died December 24th, 2005 at the Royal Jubilee Hospital in Victoria.


Her family extend sincere thanks to everyone who helped her survive her journey with hope, love and prayers. To Drs. Engman and Naaykens a special thanks. She cherished all the phone calls, cards and visits from everyone. Lorene will be forever remembered by her family and friends whose lives she touched in some special way.


A Service of Remembrance will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Friday, December 30th at COMOX VALLEY FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORIUM, 1101 RYAN ROAD, COURTENAY followed by a gathering at Lorene’s and George’s home. Donations made in Lorene’s memory to the S.P.C.A., Comox Valley & District Branch, Box 1284, Comox, B.C., V9N 7Z8 would be appreciated.
