Mabel passed away peacefully at Ocean View ECU, Comox Hospital. She was born in Dodsland, Saskatchewan, the second daughter of four girls in the Mills family. Mabel grew up in Kelfield, Sask. where she met and married Joe McClure in 1935. They left the prairies and moved to the Comox Valley in 1941.

Mabel leaves behind to mourn her passing, two sisters, Joan Kernovick, Alberta, and Ilene (Jack) Mighton of Qualicum; children: son Red McClure (Noni), daughter Lois Bennie. Grandchildren, Ken McClure (Gaetane), Bruce McClure (Ellen), Jodie McClure, Darryl Calnan, Ron Bennie (Maureen), Sandra Maybie (Wade) Dawn Bennie; thirteen great grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Joe in 1996, sister Olive in 1967, grandson Greg in 1988, son Douglas in 1995, daughter-in-law Glenda in 2000, and son-in-law Don Bennie in 2006.

A ‘Time of Remembrance’ will be held at the Lawn Bowling Clubhouse in Bill Moore Park, Kilpatrick Avenue on November 11, 2007 at 1:30 p.m.

Mabel was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
