Passed away peacefully at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Comox on June 18, 2006 at the age of 89. Mae is predeceased by her husband Lyle Barker, daughter Carole Finlay, son George Barker, brother William and sisters: Irene and Ethel. She will be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren: Jim (Patty) Mitchell, Robert (Corinne) Mitchell, Terry (Marcia) Mitchell, Karen (Allan) Vanderburg, Barbara (Ken) Szaszik, 9 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, her sister Florence and by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The family wishes to extend their thanks to all those who provided care and support to Mae since her move to Cumberland; and to Dr. Helmer and the nursing staff at St. Joseph’s Hospital.
A Graveside Service will be held at the Cumberland Cemetery on Friday, June 23, 2006 at 2:00pm. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations in Mae’s memory to the Heart & Stroke Foundation would be appreciated. Piercy’s - Mt. Washington Funeral Home in care of arrangements.
