FREEMAN

Margaret Kathleen (BOVILL)

March 4, 1922 - May 8, 2008

Kaye died peacefully at St. Joseph?s Hospital in Comox, British Columbia on May 8, 2008, after a brief, unexpected illness.

Born in Manitoba on March 4, 1922, Kaye moved in her teen years with her parents and 2 sisters to Vancouver. She trained as a nurse at St. Paul?s Hospital and then worked as a stewardess for Trans Canada Airlines before marrying Bill, a navigator. Kaye and Bill lived in Hudson Heights from 1948 to 1996, raising 3 children. A creative, curious and generous person all her life, Kaye enjoyed nature, singing in the church choir, gardening, sewing, painting, playing piano, dancing, swimming, skiing, golfing, volunteering, travelling and spending time with family. She treasured her lifelong friends from her early days in Manitoba and her nursing friends from St. Paul?s.

Kaye always wanted to move back to the ocean and the mountains of British Columbia. In 1996, she and Bill settled in the Comox Valley on Vancouver Island so as to live nearby her two sons and their families, and be closer to her sister, Grace, in Vancouver. Kaye was delighted to meet the friendly and welcoming communities within the Comox United Church, Elder College, Air Canada Pionairs, Maple Wings and the First Open Heart Society of B.C. She also pursued her music passion playing piano for Fiddlejam.

Predeceased by her parents Lydia and Robert, husband Bill, daughter Diane and sister Lynn, Kaye is survived by her sister Grace, daughter Shelley (Rod), sons Rob (Deidre) and Craig (Ann), grandchildren Madeleine, Aidan, Cole, Destry and Trent, and many nieces and nephews. A celebration of Kaye?s life is planned for the autumn.
