LINDSAY

Marion Evelyn

(nee: Cox, formerly McPherson)

30 November 1944 - 29 July 2007

It is with very deep sorrow that Marion’s family announces her sudden passing at her home in Sayward last Sunday morning as the result of a stroke at the age of 62 years. She is survived by her loving family: husband Tim, son Temple (Rebecca) McPherson of Gold River, daughter Dallas (Jim) Gillingham of Chilliwack, stepsons Clayton and Ian Lindsay of Courtenay, sisters Betty Cox of Quadra Island and Ellen (Barry) Nelson of Campbell River, brother Derek (Donna) of Black Creek, sister-in-law Juanita Cox of Campbell River, granddaughter Tanza McPherson and grandsons Darius and Kellen Gillingham, former husband Sandy McPherson of Campbell River, many nieces, nephews and extended family members, and many long-time friends. Marion was predeceased by her father John in 1969, her mother Hillagonda in 1970, her stepson Ben Lindsay in 2005, and her brother Charlie in April 2007.

Marion was born in St. Michael’s Hospital at Rock Bay and spent her early life at Owen Bay and Granite Bay before her family moved to Oyster Bay in 1955. After graduating from Carihi, she worked at the Vancouver Stock Exchange, then for a number of years was an operator at BC Tel in Campbell river. Following a short relocation to Victoria in the early 1990s, she most recently worked as the shift scheduler at Catalyst paper’s Elk Falls Division.

Marion’s infectious smile, her deep-down laughter, and the twinkle in her eyes will always be remembered by everyone who knew and loved her.

A Celebration of her life will be held on Tuesday, August 7th at the Eagles Hall, 1999 14th Ave., Campbell River at 2:00 p.m. For directions, contact Donna Cox at (250)337-5363 or cell 204-2540. Everyone is welcome to come and share their memories of Marion.

The family extends special thanks to the Sayward ambulance attendants and members of the fire department, and to the Campbell River General Hospital’s emergency room staff.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Marion’s favourite charity, Help Fill A Dream Foundation, 902 Hillside Ave., Victoria, BC V8T 1Z8.
