It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Marjorie Elizabeth Elcock on April 8, 2017, in Comox, British Columbia

Marjorie was born in 1926, in Morley, England. As a young woman she entered nursing, joined the army and became a lieutenant in Queens Alexandra’s Royal Army Nursing Corps, serving in East Africa, before returning to the United Kingdom, where she specialized in Dialysis Care.

She married Edward Elcock in 1949, raised a family of three boys; Mark (Terri), John and Simon (Ginny). As a mother she was always there for us, an anchor who was always the centre of the family.

In 1974 we eventually all emigrated to London, Ontario, and she practiced in private nursing homes as a caregiver. Retirement brought Ted and Marjorie to the Comox Valley, where Marjorie was active in Coval, made many good friends, and loved the good weather to enjoy her first love, which was clambering around her rock garden, tending her flowers in true British fashion.

Marjorie was 90 years old, fiercely independent, always good natured, and a joy to be around. She passed suddenly of heart failure, ironic for someone with the biggest heart of anyone you would ever meet.

Special thanks to the staff of St Joseph’s, who did their best for us in a difficult time.

At Marjorie’s request there will be no funeral service; however, please think of her as you pass a well-tended garden, every flower sharing optimism and appreciation for another sunny day.
