1933 - 2002
Passed away suddenly May 30, 2002 at the age of 68. Martha was born in Bregenz, Austria on July 27, 1933. The only daughter of Joachim and Sophie Vogel, Martha had 2 younger brothers. Martha followed her soon to be husband Herman to Canada in 1960 and they resided in Vancouver until 1974 when they moved to Courtenay to raise their 2 sons. Martha will always be remembered by her husband Herman, sons Eric (Teresa), Steven (Georgia) and her 3 grandchildren Hayden, Lena and Katie. She will also be remembered by family back home in Austria and many friends they have made over the years since coming to Canada. Anyone who knew Martha will always remember seeing her and Herman either hiking up some grand mountain, dancing up a storm at every Oktoberfest from here to Port Alberni or tending seemingly without effort in her many gardens. A very special Thank You to the RCMP for their quick response to our concern. Also thanks to the Comox Valley Ground Search and Rescue, COPS Aerial Search and Rescue and to anyone else involved in the search for mom. In lieu of flowers, donations to any of the above named organiza- tions would be greatly appreciated. A Celebration of Martha’s Life will take place on Thursday, June 6th, 2002 at 1:30 P.M. in the CHAPEL OF PIERCY’S FUNERAL HOME, 440 England Avenue with a reception to follow in PIERCY’S GLACIER TEA ROOM. PIERCY’S FUNERAL HOME have been entrusted with the arrangements.
