WEBB, Michael Terrance

CD2, CWO (Ret)

Suddenly on October 27, 2010, Michael Terrance Webb left this earth to meet his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Michael was born February 17, 1954 in North Bay, Ontario. He will be so dearly missed and was loved by Lori his wife, his step-daughter Alana and step-son David and two step-grandchildren, Rose and Ben. Mike is also survived by his father, Mike Everett (Darlene) of Summerside, PEI, his brother Danny and sister Beverley of Sault Ste. Marie, as well as his much loved cousins and other relatives. Mike will also be missed by his mother-in-law, Anne Yarish and Lori’s family members. Mike was predeceased by his mother Shirley Webb of Sault Ste. Marie.

Mike served in the Airforce for 34 years, retiring in 2006. Mike was the 435 Squadron Chief Warrant Officer when he retired. He started his military career as a young teenager in army cadets and joined the regular force when he was 18 years old. He was posted to many places in Canada such as Trenton, Chilliwack, Portage la Prairie, Winnipeg as well as two tours in Germany. He enjoyed playing the drums in the pipe band while in Portage la Prairie and some years later he was the 402 Squadron band manager. He wore his military uniform with extreme pride and was well-respected by his peers and others.

He enjoyed many activities with numerous friends in Manitoba while sailing on Lake Winnipeg in Gimli and later Hecla Island. Mike and Lori also curled in the CFB mixed league for several years. Mike had many friends and always enjoyed going to the Mess or to Legion #4 for a beer. Mike had many hobbies and passions and enjoyed all his “toys” including his Alfa Romeo and his motorcycle (including his new motorcycle purchase, his Moto Guzzi). Longing for the West Coast, Mike and Lori made the decision to move to the Comox Valley June 2009. Mike loved BC and waited many years to return to the place he so loved. He and Lori were loving life – going to new places, meeting new friends. Mike was blessed to meet so many wonderful, welcoming, and friendly people, and truly felt at home. One short year of joy was not enough. He will be so very much missed by all.

Mike was buried in a private ceremony held at Courtenay Civic Cemetery.

A service to celebrate Mike's life will be held on Friday, November 5, 2010 at 12:00pm at the 888 Wing with a reception to follow.
