(CRAIG) (nee GALLOWAY)

Muriel passed away on March 4th, 2017 at Comox, BC surrounded by her family and friends.

Muriel was born in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta on December 11, 1926

Muriel moved to Vancouver as a girl where she met and married Robert Craig in 1946 and they had three children. Bob was a school teacher and Muriel was a homemaker but as the children grew up she began working as a secretary. In 1975 they moved to Clearwater, BC, where they both worked for the local School Board and joined the Square Dance Club. Dancing became a key activity for the rest of Muriel’s life. They spent their summers at their cabin on Sakinaw Lake where many happy family memories were made. In 1985 they retired to Courtenay on Vancouver Island where Muriel added Round Dance Calling to her repertoire. After Bob passed away in 2001, Muriel married Ernest Bentley in 2003. They lived in Parksville and remained active in the Square Dance community and Ernie introduced Muriel to Golf. It became her second key activity after dancing. When Ernie passed away in 2006, Muriel moved to Comox where she danced out her life amongst her many family and friends. Muriel lived by a simple, abiding faith that God is good in all circumstances. Her life was an inspiration to us all. The family would like to thank Doctors Nap and Edelson, all the nurses and aids at St. Joseph’s Hospital and the wonderful staff at the Comox Valley Hospice for taking such good care of our Mom, Grandma, Great Grandma.

Muriel was predeceased by her parents, Ivan and Grace, brothers, Leslie and Donald, her husband of 55 years, Robert Hugh Craig, daughter, Melodie Lynn McGillis, and second husband, Earnest O. Bentley.

Muriel is survived by 2 Sons, Don (Sue) and Doug (Lee); Son in law, Doug (Melodie); 10 Grandchildren, Carolyn (Paul), Lisa (Donnie), Jessica (Ryan), Jennifer, Emily (Dan), Teva, Luke (Liz), Muriel (Grant), Fasika, and Medhanit; 13 Great Grandchildren, her 5 Sisters, and many nephews and nieces.
