Watson, Nora Thorpe

June 29, 1909-June 17, 2005

Nora passed away peacefully in St. Joseph’s Hospital, after a very brief illness. She was predeceased by her husband, Harry, and her sister, Mona Glinz.

She is survived and will be very sadly missed by her son, Bruce (Val) of Campbell River, daughter Mona (Blair) Purves of Chilliwack, daughter-in-law, Judy of Campbell River, granddaughters Amanda (Daryl) Causton of Sardis, and Robyn (Rob) Mudie of Hope and two great-grandchildren, Heather and Zachary Mudie.

Nora was born in Hamiota, Manitoba, and had a short but exciting career as a country school teacher in Adanac, Saskatchewan during the early 1930s. She then moved to Vancouver and married Harry Watson in 1937. They soon relocated to the Comox Valley where Harry co-founded the “Watson and Ash” bus company.

Nora was a charter member of the Union Bay Pythian Sisters.

Nora will ever be remembered for her love of family and friends, her sense of humour, her great interest in people, her generosity and her unwavering zest for life.

A private memorial service will be held on June 27, 2005. Flowers gratefully declined in consideration of donations to Nora’s favourite charity, YANA, Box 3159, Courtenay, V9N 5N4. Piercy’s Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
