NORMAND YVON GIRARD

April 23, 1935 – February 10, 2008


Passed away quietly with dignity and bravery on February 10th, 2008 in Comox, British Columbia surrounded by his family after a long and valiant struggle. He was predeceased by his mother Beatrice Grenier, his father Emile Girard and his brothers Real, Marcel and Raymond. Norm is survived and will be dearly missed by his wife of 53 years, Midge, his son Gary (Christina) Girard of Victoria, B.C., his daughters Claudette (Stan) Craigen of Powell River, Susan Girard and Daryl of Nanaimo and Sandi (Danny) Warden of Winnipeg, his grandchildren Michael and Stephen Craigen, Samantha and Mark Warden, Alyssa, Ryan and Matthew Girard and Jennifer Marcoux, his brother Alain (Lucette) Girard of Roberval, Que., and brother-in-law Mike Francis, his sisters Huguette Girard (Maurice) and Colette Girard both of Roberval, Quebec and sisters-in-law Gisele Boutin, Jeanne Francis and Dolly Francis, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Norm proudly served for 33 years in the Royal Canadian Air Force and was a member of the RCAF Association and the Comox Branch of the Royal Canadian Legion. He was a very friendly and out-going man who enjoyed trout fishing in his leisure time. He had many friends and was always a gentleman. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church on the base on Wednesday, February 13, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. and prayers will be held at COMOX VALLEY FUNERAL HOME, CREMATION & RECEPTION CENTRE, 1101 RYAN ROAD, COURTENAY on Tuesday, February 12, 2008 from 7 P.M. to 8 P.M. In lieu of flowers, donations in Norm’s memory made to the Palliative Care Unit of St. Joseph’s Hospital, 2137 Comox Ave, Comox, B.C. V9M1P2 would be appreciated.
