HALL, Patricia Ann
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Patricia Ann Hall on Dec 14th 2010 at Nanaimo General Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. Born April 6th, 1943 in Ealing, Sussex, England she leaves this world at an all too young age of 67. Previously deceased by her mother Irene Bowyer, Father Elfred Edwards, step father Bill Bowyer and father and mother in law Keith and May Hall. Survived by her loving husband Kenneth Hall, daughter Michelle, son Keith (his wife Carmen), grandchildren Maiya, Mackenzie and Kaitlyn and step brother Paul Bowyer.
As a child, Patricia was a shining star in Britain’s athletic world. She was a world class figure skater, winning the Women’s Junior Ice Skating Championship of Great Britain in 1956. She later went on to win the British and European Professional Ladies Championship in 1958, and narrowly missed qualifying for the 1960 Olympic Games. Upon her retirement from competitive skating, she spent two years touring Europe with ‘Holiday on Ice’. From 1962-1972 she began a career teaching figure skating in Europe. She met her husband to be, a Canadian serviceman stationed in Germany, Kenneth Hall in Kandersteg, Switzerland and later married in Baden-Soelengin, Germany in 1972. Ken and Pat soon started a family and in 1976 moved to Canada settling in Courtenay, British Columbia. Ken was stationed at CFB Comox while Pat enjoyed teaching figure skating part time in Courtenay and Gold River. After Ken’s retirement from the forces in 1985, Pat and Ken started a successful courier service appropriately named ‘Hall’s Delivery’ which they ran until they both formally retired in 2002. In 2003 they followed their children to Nanaimo where they have spent the past 7 years keeping up with their grandchildren.
At Pat’s request there will be no formal service or ceremony. In lieu of flowers, you may make a donation in Pat’s name to Canadian Cancer Society.
