Paul passed away at Vernon Jubilee Hospital on November 16, 2004, at the age of 83 years, following a short illness. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Nancy, and his children: Diane (Ray) Leakey of Comox, B.C., Greg (Arleigh) Fanning of Vernon, and Deb (Don) Fleming of Kamloops. He will be sadly missed also by his grandchildren: Christine, Greg, Bradley, Jennifer and James; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Paul was predeceased by his parents, Walter and Augusta Fanning; brothers: George, Walter, and Harry; and sister Ruth. Paul was born August 2, 1921 in Cranbrook. He began a 30 year career as a pilot and flight instructor, joining the RCAF during the Second World War and retired from the military in 1964 at Comox Air Base. Paul moved his family to Vernon and was employed by the City of Vernon for 15 years. He will be remembered for his never-ending jokes and humorous one-liners, and “Yes, Dad. . Some days you just shouldn’t get out of bed!” .. Love you always.

At Paul’s specific request, there will be no public Service held. Cremation arrangements are in the care of Vernon Funeral Home. (250)542-0155
