BOLAN, Paul Mathew John

January 22, 1932 – February 24, 2010

Paul Bolan, of Penticton BC, quietly slipped away from this life on the morning of February 24th. Born and raised in Toronto, Ontario – the son of Joseph and Eula Bolan. He is survived by his wife Sandra and their 9 children: Vicki Bolan (Andrew), Cathie Bolan, Valerie Prat (John), Timothy Bolan (Shelley), Lisa Leuenberger, Susan Bolan-Bellows, Rod Maynard, Debbie Bolan (Roger), Cindy Loignon (Glenn). Also his grandchildren: Tyler MacKay & Dayle MacKay, Mathew Bolan, Madison and Mason Loignon . He leaves behind a sister, Barb and brothers Mike and Peter. Paul served with the Princess Patricia Canadian Light Infantry, 2nd Battalion in the Korean conflict from 1950 to 1951. His unit was honoured for exceptional bravery and received a Presidential Unit Citation from President Truman. This Canadian Battalion was the only one to ever receive this distinction. He also served with the Canadian Armed Forces from 1953 until his retirement in 1978, attaining to the rank of Warrant Officer. He was an avid sportsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, football and numerous other sports. He coached various sports teams including minor hockey midget & peewee divisions, which achieved many championships.  Paul suffered a devastating injury during a work related accident in 1981 but strove to overcome the obstacles he experienced as a result. He preferred to focus on the good things in life rather than allow the circumstances to limit his ability to continue enjoying life. Although he was a bit of a rebel at times, he was also well known for his sense of humor and the positive effect he had on others. A celebration of life will be held at noon on Thursday, March 4th at the Ramada Inn in Penticton. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to SOS Medical Foundation for Penticton Regional Hospital @ 550 Carmi Ave, Penticton, BC V2A 3G6.  Condolences can be sent to the family by visiting everdenrust.com
