Penny was a past member of the Cumberland Chamber of Commerce. For twelve years she was a member of the Cumberland 24th of May committee for which she worked very hard organizing and finding activities for the park on that day. She also did the treasurers books for the Girl Guide Association.

After graduating from GP Vanier Penny completed a course as a Librarian’s Assistant. From the age of 16 to 19 she worked for Wayne and Jeanne Carpenter as a waitress/cook at Hobbies. At 19 she started to work at the Royal Bank and was there for 35 years. A few days before her passing the bank presented her with her 35 year employee diamond ring for which she was thrilled to receive.

Penny loved to embroider and was learning to knit a sweater during her illness. She didn’t quite get it completed. Her favorite hobby was flower arranging and she spent many hours making arrangements for family and friends. She loved to cook and would spend hours preparing dinner for invited guests.

She was a wonderful mother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend. She loved her family very much. She was a kind and gentle lady who was always there for her family or friends. She adored her son and loved when he came home for visits. Some of the special people in Penny’s life were Bill, Pat, Wendy, Shelley, Barb, Trish and Karen.

She has left us to be an Angel along with her good friends Marion and Gail who we are sure were waiting to greet her.

Though Penny loved flowers she loved children more. No flowers please. Donations in Penny’s memory can be made to You Are Not Alone or the Vancouver Children’s Hospital.

Funeral Service to be held Saturday, October 13th at 12 noon at the Cumberland United Church under the direction of Comox Valley Funeral Home, Cremation and Reception Centre, 1101 Ryan Road. Pastor Gordon Carter officiating. Tea to follow at the Cumberland Senior Citizens Centre.
